Ned Ludd
The
Also known as: the Prophet, the Luddite, King of the Luddites
2010 – 2106
Ned Ludd was the pseudonymous leader of the Fifth Great Awakening and launched the five year crusade against all Machine Intelligence. He lead the human militias against the Technocrats and authored the manifesto: On Creation, which was read widely on Earth before and during the war. Ludd was eventually assassinated by Technocrat militias and all of his writings and mentions were destroyed. Before the war started Ludd was an evangelical preacher and former military engineer who believed that technology had turned from a tool to help set humanity free to a set of chains that would bind humanity to a permanent class of technocratic overlords. While he is not an official figure in the Heliolite cannon, he is still revered by the religion and seen as sort of "zero-ith" prophet before the first prophet Adam. The prophet Adam is said to have read a secret copy of On Creation that historians believe was present on Mars.
